Samir covers educational expenses

Entrepreneur: Samir
Location: Burj Barajneh, Lebanon

Samir is a taxi driver and has used the loan from Ameen to pay for the education of his children. The eldest is currently doing a masters degree at one of Beirut’s universities. His children’s education has always been a top priority for Samir. He thinks of it as an investment in their future that will allow them to become self-reliant and to hope for a better life.

Samir was not always a taxi driver. He chose this business two years ago after the war in 2006 forced him to shut down the sewing business he owned and operated. Samir hopes that in the next few years he can reopen his sewing business as soon as he is confident he can be sure of its success. Right now he likes the freedom driving a taxi provides and at the same time allowing him to earn a decent income for his family.

We met Samir at the MFI branch in Burj Al-Barajneh, a suburb of Beirut.
